On the run I think I've finally gotten back into my running routine after a bit of a hiatus. During the wedding and honeymoon I fell out of the routine and then once we got back it turned cold. It is really hard getting back into 5AM runs when you can see your breath. I tried running on a treadmill at the gym, but it is just too much hassle and isn't quite the same. I find myself going slower on the treadmill and it is boring.
Taking advice from a friend who is a running enthusiast I went out last night and bought some lycra pants. They are quite possibly the gayest looking thing I have ever bought. They are skin tight and silky. It's like wearing black panty hose (I mean, that's what it must be like because I never wear panty hose, especially not last weekend at that party...) Anyhow, this morning I donned my lycra pants, shorts (to cover up the naughty parts), a t-shirt, a flannel shirt, ear muff head band, and gloves and headed out on my normal route. I made the whole 3.5 miles with no problems, although along the way as I got hotter my ear muff came off and the flannel was unbuttoned. We'll see how well I can keep up with this as the temperatures plunge below freezing.
I am especially interested in getting back into running because as of right now I am testing for my black belt on December 18, coincidentally my 29th birthday. My technique is almost there, but my stamina is less than I would like. My running has helped out immensely so far, so I am sure that another couple months of running will get me to where I need to be and beyond.
